Description

ProForm-C

Koi Care Kennel Proform-C has been the industry leading broad spectrum malachite green & formalin treatment for the past 20 years. Malachite green and formalin are two drugs that are more effective in combination than if used individually truly defining synergism. These two drugs are less toxic in combination than if used individually making ProForm-C the preeminent product in this field.  ProForm- C is formulated with malachite green chloride, while most other MG&F products use the oxalate salt form which is more toxic than the chloride form. As with any malachite green & formalin treatment do NOT use with salt levels above 0.05%.

Benefits:
    • The safest and most effective treatment for the control of diseases caused by Ichthyophthirius (ich), Costia, Trichodina, Chilodonella, Oodinium and fungal infections
    • The Original MG&F treatment that can be used in water temperatures as low as 50 degrees (F), thus allowing you to treat in early Spring and late Fall. Most other MG&F treatments can NOT be used below 62 degrees (F)
    • Treatment is DAILY. Most other MG&F treatments are dosed once every three days. Dosing daily allows you to complete the treatment in 3 days instead of the 9 days of similar products.
    • You do NOT need to bypass your bio-filters which allows a more comprehensive treatment of the entire pond system
    • Less toxic to koi and goldfish than any other MG&F product on the market
PURPOSE

ProForm-C™ is a concentrated formulation of formalin and malachite green. It is based upon the famous Leteux-Meyer formulation,
published in 1973, for treating ichthyphthiriasis (“ich”) on scaleless
catfishes. Leteux and Meyer found that the formulation they
developed was not only more effective in treating this ubiquitos
disease, but it was less toxic to the treated fishes than either drug
used separately. This is the definition of synergism.
AquaScience Research Group, Inc., improved upon the LeteuxMeyer formulation by utilizing malachite green chloride instead of the
commonly used malachite green oxalate. The chloride form is less
toxic than the oxalate form.
ProForm-C™ is also useful in the treatment of other protozoancaused diseases of fishes as well as fungal infections.

STANDARD TREATMENT PROCEDURES

The standard use-dilution of ProForm-C™ is 5 mL (1 teaspoon) per
50 gallons of pond water. Prior to starting treatment with ProFormC™ perform a large, initial water change (at least 1/3 of the pond’s
present volume). It may be necessary to perform such water
changes at least 24 hours in advance of the adding ProForm-C™
to the pond so that suitable water conditioners may be added. A
nearly complete water change, prior to the use of ProForm-C™,
will often prove to be highly beneficial to the ultimate success of the
treatment.
Repeat treatments, as necessary, with pre-dosing water changes
of 10% to 25%. Repeat at least every 24 hours until a cure is affected.
Re-treatment as often as every 8 hours is possible if the fishes can
be closely observed and progress of the disease careful observed.
For such frequent re-treatments, the diseased fishes should be
moved to an aquarium with suitable filtration. This will make the
course of the treatment easily observable.
For “ich”, observation of the cycle of the appearance and disappearance of the white spots should dictate the course of the treatment.
At those times when the spots are gone, or reduced in number, the
ProForm-C™ should be re-dosed following a water change.
