Description
Atlantic-OASE BioSmart Gravity Filter
Product Details
Integrate Oase BioSmart Gravity Filters seamlessly into any new or existing pond or water garden setup. These innovative flow-through bio-mechanical filters are positioned above water level, utilizing gravity to draw water through the filter chamber, effortlessly returning clean water downhill back into the pond. Featuring multiple filter zones, they effectively slow water flow, removing debris and creating an optimal environment for beneficial bacteria. Three types of high-surface area filter foams boast exceptional biological filtration capacity, efficiently removing fish waste and harmful ammonia and nitrites.
Maintenance is a breeze, and there is no need to unclog filter foams manually; attach a hose to the Gardena-style fitting and open the sludge valve for quick and easy cleaning and rinsing. Offering a 3″ outlet and max flow rates ranging from 1,450 to 2,110 GPH, these filters accommodate hose sizes from 0.75″ to 1.5″. Each filter includes a 3-year warranty, a 3″ Sch40 outlet adapter, and metric step fittings. BioSmart Gravity Filters pair perfectly with Oase AquaMax Eco Classic and AquaMax Eco Premium Pumps. Ideal for ponds ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 gallons with a light fish load.
Three Filter Densities
• Corse, Medium, & Fine Filters
Oase BioSmart Gravity Filters use multiple filter zones to slow water through varying grades of color-coded filter foams (coarse, medium, fine). Filter foams remove fish waste and debris while providing ample surface area for beneficial bacteria to remove ammonia and nitrates before the polished water is returned to the pond by gravity.

Cleaning Indicator & Handles
• No Need to Remove Filters From Box
Maintaining the BioSmart Gravity Filter is simple. A cleaning indicator alerts you when the filter foams need attention. The cleaning handles move up and down, squeezing debris from the foam filters without requiring manual removal. At the same time, a sludge drain handle efficiently flushes out waste. Finish off with a quick attach hose fitting for a swift final rinse, making maintenance a breeze.

Internal Thermometer
• Reads Water Temperature
A built-in thermometer offers valuable insights into water temperature. Monitoring water temperature helps determine when to start and stop feeding fish and make informed decisions regarding fish food diet. Knowing the temperature provides essential information for pond management and the application of bacterial or water treatments.

Compatible UV Clarifier
• Clears Discolored Water
Oase Vitronic 18 UVC Clarifier is compatible with the Oase BioSmart Gravity Filter 5000. It can mount directly to the inlet ports. Oase Vitronic cleans water at the microscopic level with a powerful UVC band light. It is an excellent option for ponds that get a lot of sunlight with little to no shade.

When to Use
Oase BioSmart Gravity Filters can be used for new or existing ponds for mechanical and biological cleaning of ponds.
How Does It Work?
The gravity filter receives pond water and waste from a solid handling pump at the bottom of the pond. Dirty water passes through the filter foams and returns clear and clean flowing by gravity back down into the pond.
Start-Up
Important Note: This filter requires connection to a pump to operate.
Prior to starting up the unit, check that all clamps on the internal cover are closed. The clamps for pond additives can be used to supply additives such as PL Gel to the filter.
The BioSmart Gravity Filter is a biological filter system and requires several weeks after its first installation to reach its full biological effect, and must be run continuously to retain the biological efficiency.
Switching the filter system on: Connect each power plug to the socket.
Optional Accessory
Oase BioSmart Gravity Filter 5000 may be fitted with Oase Vitronic 18 UVC Clarifier which mounts directly to the inlet ports.
Maintenance
The BioSmart Gravity Filter is very easy to maintain. Only clean the unit when required, do not use chemical cleaning agents to permit the filter biology to optimally develop. Clean the filter immediately when the float switch in the water level indicator becomes visible from outside on the lid.
To mechanically clean foam filters, turn off pump, pull handles slowly, hold at the top, then slowly push the cleaning handles down. Repeat this action several times.
Unscrew the cover cap from the sludge drain and connect drainage tubing (unless using a permanent connection). Open the slide valve. Allow the water to drain completely, then close the slide valve again. Repeat the cleaning process 2-3 times, until water comes out clear.
Winter Storage
When water temperatures are below 46°F, drain and clean the unit. Remove, clean, dry, and store all filters in a frost-free environment.
