Description
AquaMeds TERMINATE is specially formulated to treat tough strains of salt-resistant koi pond parasites, like costia and trichodina.
Take Back Control of Your Pond!
TERMINATE is a fast, effective solution for salt-resistant parasites, fungal infections, and protozoa. Its fast 3-day treatment and safe, less toxic formula make it the top choice for koi and goldfish pond keepers.
Don’t let Costia, Chilodonella, or Ich wreak havoc on your koi. Use TERMINATE to take back control of your pond — faster, safer, and stronger.
TERMINATE is one of the most effective Malachite Green (chloride) & Formalin products on the market and here’s why:
-
- Formulated with malachite green chloride, (not the more toxic oxalate salt) and formalin (MG&F). Both drugs are less toxic and more effective in combination than if used individually
- Safe for treating costia, chilodonella, ich, oodinium and fungal infections
- Safe to use on “scaleless” koi
- Will not set back your pond filter
- Can be used in water temperatures as low as 50 degrees (F), this allows you to treat when temperatures are cooler in the spring and fall
- Less toxic to koi and goldfish than any other MG&Fproduct on the market
- Shipped NON-HAZMAT legally anywhere in theU.S.
- Costs less than any other MG&F product on the market!!
- TERMINATE has a much shorter treatment period than other MG&F treatments on the market. Treat for 3 days and you’re done, as compared to 9 days of most MG&F products or 21 days with salt.
- One Gallon Treats 12,800 gallons Three Times
- 32 ounces Treats 3,200 gallons Three Times
- TERMINATE® will not harm your plants, salt will harm plants
- TERMINATE® will not kill all the “good bacteria” in your filter, like many other treatments such as Potassium Pomegranate.
What Makes TERMINATE More Effective?
TERMINATE contains a specialized blend of Malachite Green (Chloride) and Formalin (MG&F). Here’s how these two ingredients work together:
- Malachite Green: Safer for fish but just as effective as traditional Malachite Green Oxalate. It kills external parasites, protozoa, and fungi.
- Formalin: Penetrates parasite membranes, making them more vulnerable to Malachite Green. Together, these ingredients work synergistically to kill parasites faster than using them individually.
For Ponds of All Sizes
TERMINATE works for small backyard koi ponds and large-scale pond systems. For large ponds, use the following dosage guide:
- Small Ponds (1,000 gallons): Use 100 mL per day.
- Medium Ponds (5,000 gallons): Use 500 mL per day.
- Large Ponds (10,000 gallons): Use 1 liter (1,000 mL) per day.
Instructions:
- A large pond water change of 25% or more before treatment will produce the best results. Increase aeration if possible.
- Remove all carbon from your filter, shut off protein skimmer, shut off your U.V. light, leave your U.V. pump and pond filter running.
- Add 3.5 oz (100 ml) of TERMINATE to every 1,000 gallons of pond water.
- Re-treat daily for 3 days with a minimum of a 25% water change prior to each re-treatment.
- NOTE: Do Not use salt or any medicated treatments when treating your pond with TERMINATE
- NOTE: Never mix any Aqua Meds Products with TAP water. The chlorine in the tap water will damage the natural “microbes” and medications in the products. Use good clean pond water.
Important safety information:
- Do not store below 60 degrees (F) or above 110 degrees (F).
- Do not treat koi ponds with invertebrates.
- DO NOT use TERMINATE if it has been frozen or stored below 50 degrees.
- All products (not just Terminate) containing formaldehyde are toxic if they have been frozen.
Precautions When Using TERMINATE
1. Monitor Fish for Signs of Stress
- Watch for Symptoms: Fish may show signs of stress during treatment, especially with the stronger 12-hour dosing schedule. Signs of stress include:
- Gasping for air at the surface
- Clamped fins
- Erratic swimming behavior
- Rapid gill movement
- What to Do: If you notice any of these signs, increase aeration immediately by adding air stones or increasing water circulation.
2. Maintain Proper Aeration
- Why It Matters: TERMINATE contains formalin, which can temporarily reduce oxygen levels in the pond. Maintaining high oxygen levels is critical for fish health during treatment.
- What to Do:
- Run air pumps, air stones, or additional water features to increase oxygen levels.
- Avoid reducing water movement during treatment.
3. Do Not Use Salt or Other Medicated Treatments
- Why It Matters: Using salt or other medications during TERMINATE treatment can interfere with its effectiveness and increase fish stress.
- What to Do:
- Remove salt from the pond before beginning the treatment.
- Do not combine TERMINATE with other treatments unless explicitly instructed to do so (like with Aqua Prazi).
4. Avoid Feeding Fish During Treatment
- Why It Matters: Feeding fish during treatment increases the biological load on the pond, which can reduce water quality and stress fish further.
- What to Do:
- Refrain from feeding fish during the 3-day treatment period.
- Resume feeding after treatment is complete and water parameters have stabilized.
5. Protect Your Pond’s Filter
- Why It Matters: While TERMINATE is safe for biofilters, increased concentrations (like when using the 12-hour dosing option) may impact beneficial bacteria.
- What to Do:
- If possible, bypass your biofilter during treatment to prevent disruption of beneficial bacteria.
- After treatment, reintroduce the biofilter and monitor ammonia and nitrite levels.
6. Use Proper Dosage and Avoid Overdosing
- Why It Matters: Overdosing can increase stress on fish and may disrupt pond water chemistry.
- What to Do:
- Measure TERMINATE carefully according to the dosage instructions (100 mL per 1,000 gallons).
- For ponds larger than 1,000 gallons, ensure accurate dosage using measuring tools (e.g., graduated containers).
- Do not “eyeball” doses — always measure accurately.
7. Wait 5 Days Before Changing Water
- Why It Matters: Changing water too soon can reduce the effectiveness of TERMINATE, as active ingredients need time to work.
- What to Do:
- Do not perform water changes for 5 days after the final treatment.
- After 5 days, resume your normal pond maintenance schedule.
8. Store TERMINATE Properly
- Why It Matters: Proper storage ensures the product remains effective for future use.
- What to Do:
- Store TERMINATE in a cool, dry place where temperatures remain above 50°F (10°C).
- Keep the container tightly sealed to prevent contamination and evaporation of active ingredients.
9. Wear Protective Gear When Handling TERMINATE
- Why It Matters: TERMINATE contains formalin and malachite green, both of which can irritate skin, eyes, and respiratory systems.
- What to Do:
- Wear gloves and avoid direct contact with skin.
- Wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes.
- If possible, use a mask or respirator when handling large quantities.
10. Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets
- Why It Matters: TERMINATE contains chemicals that may be harmful if ingested or inhaled by children or pets.
- What to Do:
- Store TERMINATE in a locked or child-safe location.
- Keep the product in its original container with the safety label intact.
